Join our team of dedicated volunteers for the most meaningful summer you'll ever have as you "Reach For The Stars" at STRIDES Therapeutic Riding Center, Northridge, CA, just outside Los Angeles.

This professional therapeutic riding program serves disabled individuals using medical and educational approaches to foster physical and emotional development of the riders. Animal assisted therapy focuses on horse riding but also includes other animals housed on the property.

You will be trained to work directly with the horses and their disabled riders, learning to handle and care for the animals and help the riders during their lessons. Opportunities will be provided for you to ride too. As a volunteer you will help with horse shows, play days and all the ongoing activities of the center.

During your stay, you will live with your group un the UCLA dorm facilities nearby and be able to visit many attractions of the area for recreational outings. No previous horse experience is necessary for this program - only a desire to learn and help others.

"...Hilary's feeling about the program was overwhelmingly positive, which was apparent when we spoke with her by phone a couple times during the trip and when she arrived home. As parent, we also appreciated the care taken with the group, from calling us to let us know she met up safely with everyone in L.A., to seeing everyone off at the airport and everything in between." -- Phil Miller, father of Hilary Miller
